Every Friday, I'll be sharing the top 5 pins that caught my eye and inspired me. This week is all about warm pastel tones, a calming simplicity and Australia (?). -tilde
My favorite image from this week is a minimal geometric composition in marbled pastel by Melbourne artist Esther Stewart. I want this on the wall above my desk! The warm, soft colors and clean lines exude a chilled out vibe that goes perfectly with the dreary January weather we've been having in Austin.
Can we take a moment to admire how perfect this desk is? I could stay this organized for maybe 5 minutes, tops. I've been aspiring lately to re-do my workspace, so I've been collecting images like this en masse. This shining example is from Dutch blogger Suzanne Otter.
I've been a huge fan of Maurizio Cattelan ever since I saw his retrospective, All, at the Guggenheim in 2011. I especially love his collaboration with Pierpaolo Ferrari-the sardonically commercial surrealist photography magazine Toilet Paper. Their work has been getting a lot of attention lately, collaborating with Opening Ceremony, Kenzo and others. This mug from the MoMA Design Store is top for adding a little weirdness to your morning coffee (shot of whiskey optional) .
The perfect compliment to the Esther Stewart painting (plus an ideal place to set the Toilet Paper mug) is this side table by French designer Robert Normand. This stylist table is equal parts furniture and object d'arte- I actually thought it was a sculpture when I first saw it. Regardless of it's function, I'd love to own an ultra chic furnishing by Normand. All I need is the Le Corbusier-esque home to keep it in.
I'll admit it- I'm completely obsessed with these sandals. I found SENSO when a stylish Austrialian girl walked into our store wearing some fabulous ankle boots from the brand and I've been lusting over their designs ever since. SENSO is a small, family run footwear brand based in Sydney, Australia. These sandals are my dream shoe for Spring to Summer 2015. They'd be perfect with sheer ankle socks and a mid length skirt.
